Effortless Statement Style with Jessie Bush

New Zealand-born blogger and photographer Jessie Bush launched her website, WeThePeopleStyle.com, on the suggestion of her husband as she was spending so much time poring over street style blogs. After documenting other people’s style for two years, Jessie finally stepped in front of the camera, and the site now exists as a style bible and travel guide, with plenty of really useful beauty tips too. As a self-described “minimalist-meets-maximalist”, Jessie shares her style formula and health rules.

It sounds super-cliché, but no two weeks are the same for me

Mainly because I travel for roughly half the year. If I’m at home, a typical day features a lot of emails, a lot of coffee, a press event to celebrate a new product launch, shooting content for my Instagram, creating content on behalf of brands, and then perhaps a dinner or a cocktail event with a brand.

Living in London has had the biggest impact on my personal style

It’s the ultimate melting pot of culture and style. You can never be too dressed up, too casual, and I love that – in London there are no rules.

I hate the idea of being the most dressed up person in the room

So usually I’ll pick a less formal outfit and pair it with a bold red lip or go for a fancy frock but keep my hair and makeup super-natural. I do love a long-sleeve, ankle-skimming, printed dress – my favourites are the ones you can wear by day with sandals then dress up with heels later on.

The ethos behind Borgo Girl style is

Very much how I want my own wardrobe to be: equal parts girlie and cool. Beautiful fabrics in unfussy styles. Luxe yet comfortable. I think the Borgo Girl loves the chance to dress up but prefers being low maintenance. She also knows the power of a great print!

The health and fitness rules I live by are

Drink more tap water (we don’t need single use plastic), wear sunscreen every single day, and go to the gym/workout class/run even when you really don’t want to – you’ll feel 100% better for it when you’re done.

Angela’s Ashes will forever be a heart-breaking story I love to re-read

And I love Bill Bryson – his A Short History of Nearly Everything will teach you a thing or two and keep your mind nimble
